Mendlesham Primary School
We are a small rural primary school with around 110 children. Most of our children come from Mendlesham and Mendlesham Green, although some families choose to come to us from out of catchment. Our Published Admission Number is 15, though this has increased to 20 in the last two years.
We have 5 classes all taught by a qualified teacher, as well as an experienced team of teaching assistants.
Our youngest class, Willow, is a purely Reception class, as we feel it is so important to give these children a real Early Years curriculum and environment. They also have their own Outdoor Area with a canopy, adjacent to their classroom, which is used by them all year round. Their own specially built toilets are attached to their room.
In addition to our 5 classrooms, we have a central library area, putting reading at the heart of our school, an art zone, a nurture room, our own school kitchen for hot mid-day meals and the use of a large hall.
Our playground is fenced for safety and has both tarmac and grassed areas. We also have a small wooded area which children can explore, and one of our latest projects is to plan a school garden with raised beds for the children to grow vegetables and flowers.
Our building is attached to the Village Community Centre, which enables us to benefit from shared facilities such as the use of a large playing field and a very big hall for school assemblies, sharing assemblies with parents, the school productions, lunch, PE and other activities.
We open our doors at 8.50 am in the morning, and school finishes at 3.15 pm.
Mendlesham Baby and Toddler Group meets in the hall on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.
