Willow Class
Welcome to Willow Class
The teaching in Willow Class follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and is based around these 7 areas of learning. We provide a rich learning environment where your child can explore a wide range of topics through child-initiated play, adult-directed activities and adult-led group work.
The children have lots of fun being ‘Busy Bees’, where they choose their learning in the classroom and in our outside area. We also plan activities to suit each child’s needs and ensure they progress well and become confident, independent learners.
Tapestry Online Learning Journal
Your child's learning is accessed via Tapestry. We look forward to you contributing as well and hearing about the learning that is happening at home - this may include learning to ride a bike, or even swim!
Here is a Parents' Guide for using Tapestry. Apps can be downloaded for use with iPhones/iPads and Android devices.
Learning to Read and Write in Willow Class
We run phonics information sessions for parents to support you in helping your child at home as they learn to read. At school, the children learn phonics every day and their reading books they bring home will reflect the sounds they have been learning at school. What is Phonics?

How do we teach maths in Reception?
Using White Rose Maths scheme, we teach children strong foundational knowledge of numbers, which will set them in good stead for their mathematical journey throughout school.
